Challenge
The company was experiencing rapid growth and was looking to scale its operations. The technology infrastructure in place was inadequate at current capacity, with
no ability to support an increased workload. The company sought a hosted infrastructure to better support its existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) and database applications and drastically improve performance.
The existing hosted infrastructure was slow and experiencing high latency. Production outages and issues with databases were disrupting business, causing an impact to customers. The company urgently needed to improve uptime, as well as overall performance of its network, storage, and servers. The goal was to leverage known technologies for performance improvements, achieve dynamic scalability, and ensure infrastructure was able to support peak workloads and a rapidly expanding global customer base.
In addition, the company needed application support and guidance that its existing provider was unable to provide. Requirements included a high level of responsiveness, backed by proactive security threat identification and remediation. Compounding these challenges, the company was required to meet compliance requirements related to data, including complying with GDPR. With an IT team of less than 10, in-house resources were challenged to tackle all facets of the project. While staff was equipped to provide administrative and technical support, they had little experience in database administration.
Solution
