A Message Honoring Juneteenth from Ntirety

Today Friday, June 19, is Juneteenth, the oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the U.S. Juneteenth has its roots in Texas on June 19, 1865, and thus it has been an official Texas state holiday since 1979. It is celebrated annually on the 19th of June to commemorate Union army general Gordon Granger announcing federal orders in the city of Galveston, Texas proclaiming that all slaves in Texas were now free. We’ve definitely seen progress since those painful days, but it is similarly true that communities of color continue to endure discrimination and trauma. To all our colleagues in the Black community — we see you, hear you, and appreciate you. You matter, your lives matter, and you are valued here at Ntirety.

I encourage everyone to please take some time to reflect, learn, and support each other today. Slavery ended a long time ago, but racism and discrimination didn’t. Let’s all make sure that racism and discrimination have no place in America, our communities, and our company.
